
Strengths: + Ray tracing simulates the blur effect of being very close to the silver pieces fairly realistically. + The spherical shapes have very realistic reflection and highlighting (e.g., pawn heads). + Note how the pieces are reflected in the board, and how well the gold pieces reflect objects in the scene. Weaknesses: - Notice how hard all the shadows are, even for the blurred silver pieces where the light source is obviously very bright. - The color bleed from the green atmosphere onto the silver pieces is rather crude (e.g., notice the knight's neck, and the "neck stripes" on the rook pawn, rook, and king). - The color bleed from the marble table onto the wood in the bottom left and right corners seems a little exaggerated - is wood really that reflective? If so, we should see the wood reflecting more of that green light, I think. - The image took 3 minutes 25 seconds to render; not exactly a real time solution.
